The Academy
Testimonial from Karen Barron
"After
graduating from BA Textile Art in Winchester, I wanted more
skills 'to add to my
bow'.
I decided upon
ceramics and contacted all
the studios I could find in the South East.
The only person who
replied was Kellie Miller.This
gives some indication as to the kind
of businesswoman Kellie is.
Kellie tutored me part-time for a year; taking me through
the rudiments of making a mold,
slip casting, glazing & firing, until I had skills I
could hone by myself
-a fast-track method which worked very successfully.
After a year, Kellie offered me a
space within Biscuit
Studio, which I grabbed with both hands.I
still
had an awful lot to
learn, but Kellie saw the
potential in me and continued to support and offer advice.
We are approaching my first May Festival, when Biscuit
Studio(including me) shall be exhibiting -
after only one
year of practicing
ceramics full-time!
I am constantly grateful for the privileged position I am in and
the fortunate day
I stumbled upon Kellie Miller's
address. Kellie is a
very generous and insightful tutor,
imparting her hard earned knowledge
and
experience.
She has instilled in me a respect,
understanding and
love for the art of ceramics.
I shall be eternally indebted."
